Screw manufacturing unit
Setting up a screw manufacturing unit involves installing key machinery such as heading machine for forming screw heads and a thread-rolling machine for creating threads, along with a drill press, tapping machine, point-cutting machine, heat treatment furnace, and other general tools. For a small unit, Semi-automatic machines cost in the range of ₹8–₹15 lakh, depending on the type and specifications of the machinery with capacities reaching around 9,000 screws per hour. The main raw material is mild or stainless steel wire rods, supported by consumables like dies, punches, and lubricants. The plant would require a 440 V, 3-phase electricity connection, a minimum floor space of 1500 to 2000 sft, suited for machinery layout and storage. The manpower ranging from 2–5 operators depending on automation level. Screws produced can serve applications in construction, furniture, electronics, appliances, and automotive sectors, and can be sold through local hardware distributors, wholesalers, construction contractors, online as well as in inter-state markets.
