Steel Furniture Manufacturing

Steel furniture manufacturing is a viable and profitable venture owing to the easy availability of raw materials and the rising demand from households, institutions and offices. Moreover, it does not easily corrode or rust to changing environmental conditions. The process mainly uses stainless steel sheets, tubes, flats and angles along with fasteners, hinges, handles, laminates, upholstery and all of which are readily available from steel stockiest at competitive rates. The required machinery includes sheet shearing machines, hydraulic press brakes, power presses, tube-bending machines, MIG/TIG welding machines, drilling and grinding equipment, surface preparation units. Together, these machines handle cutting, bending, punching, welding, finishing, and surface treatment processes to transform raw steel into products such as tables, chairs, racks, cabinets, almirahs, and office or school furniture. The cost of machinery/equipment for a small unit setup starting from ₹5-10 lakh and above depending on selection of machineries, size, capacity and on the level of automation. Setting up of such a unit requires around 800–2,000 sq. ft of area. The production process flows through raw material inspection, cutting, bending, punching, welding, grinding, cleaning, assembly, and packaging. The finished products find wide applications in homes, schools, offices, hospitals, hotels, and industrial storage. They can be marketed through local dealers, retail showrooms, institutional contracts, government tenders and e-commerce platforms if quality and finishing standards are maintained.
