Plastic Recycling
Plastic recycling is an emerging and sustainable business opportunity, driven by increasing plastic waste generation and demand for recycled materials. Setting up a small recycling unit requires essential machinery such as a Dust Cleaner, Plastic Scrap Grinder, Washing Machine with Conveyor, Film Dryer, Agglomerator Machine, and a Plastic Recycling Machine, making the total machinery cost a significant part of the overall investment. The total estimated cost of machineries ranges from Rs.12 to 20 lakhs. A built-up area of around 1000 sq. ft. is required to accommodate production and storage activities. Raw materials, mainly plastic waste, are readily available from municipal sources, scrap dealers, and industrial waste across urban and semi-urban areas in West Bengal. The end products—recycled plastic granules or flakes—can be sold to manufacturers of plastic items such as buckets, pipes, chairs, packaging films, and more. With proper sorting, processing, and quality control, the business can yield a profit margin of 20% to 30%. The venture not only offers a profitable return but also contributes to environmental sustainability.
