Mini Ice Plant

Ice Plant produces ice blocks commonly used in fisheries and transportation. The plant requires basic raw materials like clean water, salt for brine and minor consumables, all of which are easily available locally. The key machinery includes an insulated brine tank with agitators, refrigeration package with compressor and condenser, ice cans of different capacities, cooling tower, circulation pumps, can lifting gantry. The tentative machinery cost for a small ice plant of 1 to 3 ton capacity starting from ₹6-15 lakh depending on type of machinery selected, maker, size and automation features. The area requirement is about 1,000–3,000 sq. ft. The production process involves filling cans with treated water, immersing them in chilled brine for freezing, decanning blocks and dispatching the finished ice. The ice blocks produced from the plant can be sold through multiple channels, including fish landing centers, local and wholesale markets for fish preservation, beverage distributors, bottlers, event or catering suppliers for chilling needs, cold-chain operators and reefer trucks transporting fruits and vegetables during the summer, as well as local retailers such as kirana shops and ice depots near markets and railway stations. Additionally, bulk buyers like hotels, large canteens, and industrial kitchens represent a steady demand segment, ensuring diversified sales avenues and year-round business opportunities.
